Meals are an essential time of the day for our residents providing structure and social interaction. We pride ourselves on the attention paid to good nutrition.
Many residents require special diets for medical or maybe even religious reasons. Penns Mount is experienced in catering for a wide range of needs. For example;
- Dementia – may require finger foods or soft/pureed diets;
- Diabetics – require a varied healthy diet, rich in fruit, vegetables and carbohydrates but low in sugar and saturated fat.
- High Energy Needs – underweight residents may need fortified, high calorie, high protein foods that are not too filling.
- Food Allergies and Intolerances – require diets with the omission of problem foods or ingredients. Changes to preparation methods may be required.
A varied menu of good quality home-cooked meals using fresh produce wherever possible is provided. Meals are usually taken in the dining room but can be served in the resident’s own room if preferred. Residents may invite friends/relatives to accompany them for meals, by prior arrangement with the Management at a small fee.
Morning coffees and afternoon teas are normally served in the lounge or in the client’s rooms.
Our Care Home takes each individual’s needs very seriously ensuring that their likes and dislikes are taken into account along with nutritional needs.
Dining at Penns Mount allows our residents to enjoy old favourites or explore newer taste preferences and, of course, home baked sponges and cakes are always provided.
We also encourage residents to enjoy a glass of wine or sherry if this is their preference.
